South Coast NSW top spot as Australian caravanners and campers spend 27m visitor nights in caravan parks and camp grounds

New South Wales regions have topped the list of the 10 most popular caravan and camping holiday destinations during 2008, according to the latest Caravan or Camping in Australia 2008 Snapshot released by Tourism Research Australia.

During the year ending 31 March 2009, 27 million domestic visitor nights were spent in a caravan park or commercial campground in Australia.

Budget caravan park cabin accommodation costs compare well with towing caravans to powered sites

Budget Caravan Park Cabin accommodation over 2 nights, in a 1,875 kms GoSee evaluation is $45.35 more costly than towing your own caravan.

The GoSee evaluation at current fuel prices shows towing cost is 17.6 cents per kilometre.

This could effectively rise to 20c per kilometre to equal the same cost as using caravan park cabin accommodation not towing.

DPCHIP offers practical pluses for EFI diesel owners after peak engine efficiency

After 11 months of evaluation of the product GoSee believes that there are practical benefits in DPChip diesel power for Electronically Fuel Injected (EFI) diesel engines.

The improvement in the Captiva's towing ability is significant over the 1875km GoSee used in a towing test on the Hume Hwy between Belmont, Victoria and Berrima NSW.

We were fortunate with windless towing conditions. GoSee used the same two drivers for this intense phase of the evaluation.

State Government makes caravans cheaper in NSW

Caravans and camper trailers in NSW will be around $1,000 cheaper as of 1 July 2009 thanks to the abolition of Stamp Duty on caravans and camper trailers announced in the NSW State Budget.

The industry also predicts that over 130 New South Wales based caravan and camper trailer manufacturers and dealers will directly benefit from the abolition of the stamp duty and some 400 jobs returned to the industry.

New Zealand tourism holds its ground with confidence steady across travel industry

Confidence levels are holding across the New Zealand tourism industry. From the 100 point base on the confidence index for the March data, the index is now measuring 98 in May.

Ministry of Tourism General Manager, Ray Salter, says it is encouraging to see confidence levels steady and not trending down. Figures now include regional data which helps operators track demand at regional level.

Up to 19,000 people a day generated an estimated $40 million in sales for the touring holiday industry in Australia.

59,029 attend Victorian Caravan Camping & Touring Supershow as getaway trend grows

59,029 visitors went to Victoria's annual Caravan Camping & Touring Supershow at Caulfield Racecourse.

This is just under 10,000 for each day of the 6-day Supershow which opened on Wednesday May 6.

Australia is on the road in droves of caravans, campers, motorhomes, campervans, 5th wheelers and tents in a getaway trend which extends to New Zealand.

78,000 people attended the NSW caravan and Camping Supershow this year to learn more about caravan and camping holidays, Barry Baillie, CEO of the Caravan and Camping Industry Association of NSW said today.

Generally, exhibitors reported very good results at the show this year in a tough economic climate.

Top class acts pull 50,000 to National Folk Fest Canberra

Australian has not shut it door to a good time. About 50,000 went to Exhibition Park near Canberra CBD for the National Folk Festival.

This lines up with attendance last year and flies in the face of recession fears.

Managing Director Jared Wilkins said organisers would take a well-earned rest before gathering to reflect on the event and why it has maintained its growth despite the tough financial climate.
