Fishing families feature in Port Broughton authentic SA time-out

Crab for dinner Port Broughton

Port Broughton Caravan Park South Australia has a Friendly, Fishing and Families signature in a destination which is authentically laid back.

Jody and Jason Boundy are on a winner with their park. Its seaside location is a bay frontage close to the jetty and boat ramp. Boats can also be launched at nearby Fishermans Bay 5km away.

Naturally well placed Port Broughton is on sheltered Mundoora Arm Inlet at the northern end of SA's Yorke Peninsula. About 170km northwest of Adelaide and 56km from Port Pirie Port Broughton Carvan Park is something of an accommodation central year round for travellers.

Fish and crabs can be caught from the local jetty so it is a platform for angling activity and families appreciate the security of the extensive shallows on the edge of the Mundoora Arm inlet.

Surf the web and comments like "great value", "has it all", "great place for kids", "great park", "nice beach setting with adequate facilities" are among reviews of Port Broughton Caravan Park.

Affordable also reflects this caravan park experience. The rates are attractive right off the bat for villas, cottages, ensuite units and powered sites.

But throughout the year Jody and Jason run specials which cut accommodation costs further. For example in Feb and March 2014 kids stay free, there are free activities for children and Gokarts are provided free.

The deal is stay six nights on a powered site and pay for five at a bargain $165 for two people. That is $27.50 a night.

Port Broughton is a well placed touring base for excursions to SA's Mid North, the Lower Flinders Ranges, Clare Valley and the 'Copper Coast'.

The Copper Coast Council says that about 400,000 visitors a year choose the Yorke Peninsula as their holiday destination. The area roughly bounded by Wallaroo, Kadina and Moonta is known as the 'Copper Triangle'.

The Copper Coast gets its name from mining there in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Copper was a significant source of economic prosperity for South Australia at the time. Wallaroo, Kadina and Moonta are known for their large Cornish ethnicity, often called 'Little Cornwall'.

Port Broughton is a 12 hectare caravan park and it can handle Recreational Vehicles (RV's) to 10m.

The park also offers caravan storage.

The caravan park is dog friendly except Christmas/ New Year (pets accepted from January 3).
