After 11 trips from Frankfurt Dieter and Elvira still love to GoSeeAustralia Campers lined up at Adelaide Shores Caravan Resort |
Dieter and Elvira Wolff from Frankfurt in Germany are now in the eighth month of their 11th trip to Australia with four months to go before they head home.
They were in Adelaide to get to know the SA capital first hand and to experience the Clipsal 500 motor race.
They are part of a hardened group of travellers that return time and time again to Australia. To make sure they had the best rig to handle their Australia obsession they bought their own ‘serious’ Mitsubishi 4WD truck. It has a camper installed on the back and is certainly a formidable "go-anywhere" vehicle.

But they share their adventures while they are on the road in Australia. They have established their own website to share their trip to fellow country men and friends back home. www.wolff-in-au.de
Europeans love to travel Australia and many get "hooked" and come back time after time. For the younger travellers backpacking is high on the agenda with average stays in Australia of over nine weeks according to 2002 statistics.
Others with more disposable income often use the various forms of motorhomes and campers available from such companies as Britz and Maui. When GoSeeAustralia pulled into the popular Adelaide Shores Caravan Resort we met some that where in Australia for five weeks and a family with a toddler who will be in Australia until Christmas. They are all travelling in motor homes and campers.

Dieter and Elvira told GoSeeAustralia that at the end of this trip they will put their truck into storage in Perth ready for their return to Australia about 12 months after they finish this trip.
They are reasonable typical of their generation of repeat visitors to Australia. Dieter has his own IT company and Elvira is a book keeper. They are now semi retired and intend to enjoy all the sights, destinations and experiences Australia has to offer.
GoSeeAustralia was interested to hear Dieter explain all the problems they had had trying to insurer their truck.
They include the problems which go with having no fixed address in Australia, a truck you also sleep in, and after changing registration from NSW to WA that their existing insurer could no longer insure them.
