Anthony gives real meaning to caravan mobility for disabled with Roadstar based Accessavan A wheelchair fits in the toilet and shower |
Anthony Wake is responsible for a new caravan mobility for the disabled. With the hugely successful Victorian Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow at Caulfield Racecourse attracting more than 61,000 in six days his innovation attracted a lot of attention.
GoSee got the message loud and clear in practical demonstration, DVD and personal evaluation by disabled showgoers at a Supershow which attracted about 20,000 on one day in an amazing Anzac Day response.
The Roadstar Daintree custom wheelchair accessible caravan is built to individual needs.
Crowds flocked to the 2008 Victorian Caravan Camping and Touring Supershow with visitor numbers breaking all the records on ANZAC Day. In total, over 61,000 people visited the six-day event.
“This exceptional result is not only testament to the ongoing popularity of caravanning in Victoria but also to the quality of the Show and its exhibitors,” said show organiser and executive officer of Caravan Industry Victoria Peter Wright. He said the economic slowdown, rising interest rates, increased fuel prices and long weekend holidays had not detered crowds.
The Victorian Caravan Show was impressive, covering a massive 30 acres at Caulfield Racecourse and featuring over 400 exhibitors.
“The diverse range of recreational vehicle products and services were popular features of the Show along with our new-look touring vehicle display and revamped drive tourism information section. Visitors also enjoyed informative seminars and guest speakers, and Shrek and Princess Fiona provided great entertainment for the younger explorers,” Peter Wright said today.
Anthony Wake is a caravanning devotee who has driven the Accessavan to levels which make it the first of its type which can be inspected by caravan enthusiasts in wheelchairs.
“Nothing beats the freedom of the Australian open road, the sense of freedom; explore every corner of this beautiful country with the assurance of having ACCESSIBLE accommodation”, Anthony said today.
“Having an accessible toilet and wheel-in shower behind you is a must!” he said

“You never again will be anxious about wheelchair access or disabled facilities when planning a trip. The disabled can go and stay anywhere”, Anthony said.
Accessavan is aimed at all Australians having the opportunity and means to travel within their capabilities with dignity and independence.
Accessavan works to produce custom caravans which overcome the restrictions and limitations of travel and accessible accommodation.
Because the Roadstar Daintree is a production line custom caravan particular needs can be implemented in the design layout so the caravan will fit individual needs.
Optional features include a fully accessible stepless fibreglass ensuited with accessible toilet and fold down shower seat with hand rails custom fitted.
The hand held showerhead has temperature control. The ensuited windows are lowered for easy access.

For the first time in years a caravan the disabled can actually access. |
There are big draws which replace the usual low-set cupboards.
The microwave is lowered. The fridge is raised and the bed height is custom built.
The entertainment system and power points are lowered. All heating and cooling is remote controlled.
Outside the Accessavan There is telescopic ramp access with a landing and handrails. An electric hand-held control lifts or lowers the access ramp which is built to AS3856.
Door access is wider (About 860mm). There is a small entry ramp which replaces the drop step.
The 240 Volt inlet plug is lowered. The stabilising legs of the Accessavan are hydraulic.
The is an exterior slide-out barbecue and folding table and on both sides of the Accessavan doors give access under the bed area.

Anthony says he recommends the Roadstar battery pack to operate the 12 Volt water pumps and lights which allows the accessible toilet and shower to be used anywhere.
The powerpack is also used for the TV, Radio, antenna, fridge and the access ramp.
The Roadstar based Accessavan comes with a Goldstar Leisure package free. This gives 24 hour Australia wide roadside assistance and discount vouchers for major retailers.
It includes free membership of Top Tourist Parks of Australia which covers forward bookings and site discounts.
There is also a one year Australia-wide warranty.
