Traralgon sleeves-up caravan park buyers seminar does an Obama for Australia
Park Lane manager Barry Stewart
gets the big spa bubbling
Traralgon's Graeme Hellings takes a Barack Obama approach to helping others help themselves to own, run, manage and work in a successful Caravan Park business.
Like the America's first black President he offers a roll-up-your-sleeves and work together opportunity to learn to anyone already in or looking at being part of a caravan park business.
Hellings is something of a legend in Australia's caravan park industry and tomorrow and Thursday, March 18 to 19 the builder whose vision changed Traralgon's Park Lane Tourist Park from a two Star rated sow’s ear to a four and a half Star silk purse is right behind helping others find success for themselves.
"People knock on our door often and ask about training and the caravan park industry has been very good to me so we are trying to put something back", Graeme Hellings said.

"I don't think times are tough for people who are prepared", Graeme Hellings said today from his Latrobe Valley, Victoria base.
"Caravan Parks are an industry which will get better, but right now I think too many caravan parks are under-utilised".
"Too many of the people involved in them or looking at being part of the industry are not prepared to handle essentials like marketing their product", he said.
Hellings credentials are his track record.
Park Lane, which is now among the best caravan parks in the Top Tourist Parks of Australia chain.
His successes with Mayfair Gardens Relocatable Homes Village and his new Green Acres Village development, all in Traralgon, underline the value of being well prepared.
Graeme and Chris Hellings and their son Luke run Mayfair Gardens and the new Green Acres like a village.
The practical family took a big risk when Latrobe Valley fortunes were at an all time low as work dried up in the valley.
But they took a deep breath and started building for the future. Graeme who is a registered builder of relocatable homes says he believed it would work. The results are impressive.

Hellings says the one and a half day Caravan Park Buyers Seminar at Park Lane Tourist Park is a "break-even" only to contribute to the industry and fill a training need and help others prepare themselves. Here is a link to sign on: http://www.parklanetouristpark.com.au/3809/BUYERS_SEMINAR/
"We want people to see the big picture and go into the caravan park industry with their eyes open", Graeme Hellings said.
Park Lane Tourist Park Managers Barry and Denise Stewart came into the industry "very green" Barry said today.
"We found it very different and very diverse and we went into a steep learning curve".
"The best thing anybody who wants to be a successful part of the caravan parks industry can do is learn from others", Barry Stewart said.
"The Caravan Parks Buyers Seminar here at Park Lane is about practical skills. The people who will be here to help will provide a hands-on caravan park support program for owners, managers and anyone who wants to be well prepared to be a successful part of the industry", he said. Steve Cooper from Tower Real Estate will be the presenter and MC.
The practical benefits of the seminar are real – whether you are employed in the industry or contemplating entry this is an opportunity to listen to guest speakers with knowledge and information based on many years of experience.
