Thetford awarded eco-conscious additives support Porta Potti 365 and 335 at world-class product level

Travellers in Australia and New Zealand have a responsibility to use products which are septic friendly.
So GoSee has now completed four months of evaluating Thetford eco-conscious toilet additives in two of its products the Porta Potti 365 plus the 335 model.
Thetfords toilet additive Aqua Kem Green particularly impresses with its European award winning performance. The biological action of Aqua Kem Green means that micro-organisms biologically break down the toilet waste in the tank. It is particularly suitable when emptying the waste tank into septic on camp sites.
Thetford, has been awarded the stringent German Environmental Certificate Blue Angel for its Aqua Kem Green and Aqua Rinse products by the German Federal Environmental Agency.
The award recognises environmental consciousness in toilet additives and a committment to avoid adverse effects on sewage treatment plants. None of Thetford's toilet additives Green Blue or Pink Rinse include formaldahyde.

GoSee thinks it is important to choose a portable toilet which is a complete solution and absolutely the best quality available.

Holding tank size is important. And the unit needs to fit the secure space it is planned to put it in.
Thetford gave the outdoors the Porta Potti more than 35 years ago.
GoSee is convinced of the Porta Potti design quality. GoSee owns and still uses a Porta Potti made in in the US which was bought for use on the GoSee yacht Silvergull 27 years ago.
That marine choice was based on its relatively low height profile and big holding tank, strong construction and ease of use in port and on waterways where pump-out toilets are not an eco-solution.

The units GoSee used in our current evaluation are the Thetford Porta Potti 365 which has a 21 litre holding tank and a manual piston pump driving the 15 litre flush-water tank. Its vital statistics are 414mm x 379mm X 419mm.
The other is the smaller 10 litre holding tank (add 75 mils of additive) and 10 litre flush-water tank 335.
The 305mm x 343mm x 381mm Porta Potti 335 is a perfect fit for the new GoSee Jayco Discovery Pop-top caravan. Both units have a revolving green to red coloured indicator which signals when it is time to empty the holding tank.
To empty simply twist the integrated emptying spout outwards, unscrew the cap, push and hold down the vent button to allow air to enter the waste tank (to avoid any splashing) and then pour waste out in a toilet or black water dump point.
The smaller 335 lives happily in the bottom locker under the cupboard and draw between the twin single beds at the rear of our new Jayco Discovery.
The Porta Potti 335 flushes with an easy to operate manual piston pump.
The GoSee team has considerable experience with toilet issues while on the move on land and water so we made an immediate practical minor alteration to the Jayco Discovery Pop- Top bottom locker.

GoSee cut a short piece of dowel to a snug fit and slipped it in place across the bottom inside lip of the locker door. It prevents the Porta Potti turning rogue under heavy braking and potential crashing through the locker door latch.
That can happen and a runaway Porta Potti rocketting through the Jayco Discovery would not be a good look.
When the bigger Porta Potti 365 model goes boating on Silvergull it is held down with heavy, strong Shockcord and clips.
Both the new Thetford Porta Potti 335 and 365 designs are brilliantly easy to empty. It is, of course, essential to read and understand the simple instructions which come with them.
The Thetford Porta Potti products also play a useful role in providing a portable toilet for seniors in the home.
The bigger 365 is GoSee believes the best choice in this case as it has a higher profile and requires less personal flexibility to use it. It makes life easier and lighter if the easy job of emptying the Thetford Porta-Potti 335 (10 litres) and 365 (21 litres) tanks is done early rather than late. The green to red level indicator says when.

GoSee knows now that the Thetford eco-conscious toilet additives will out-perform their specifications. But although we pushed Thetfords three (Green) to five day (Blue) recommendations out to 10 days with no particularly bad results once again early is better than late.
The actual use level and weather (hot) must be considered and common sense is the best guide overall.
Thetford says that Aqua Kem Green acts for a maximum of three to four days with average use. Aqua Chem Blue lasts four to five days with average use, Thetford said.
The toilet additive dose varies with the holding tank size of the Porta Potti.
The Porta Potti has a three-year warranty.
