The flashID Emergency Identification System aims to save lives. Developed in Australia it provides a simple and accurate means of identifying people in the case of accident, collapse, or loss of consciousness.
Anybody who is incapacitated through illness or trauma can be identified quickly and positively by use of this new, simple, inexpensive and reliable emergency identification device.
Any police or ambulance vehicle with an on-board computer equipped with a useable USB port can read the flashID device, as can computers in hospital Accident and Emergency departments.
Most doctors will be able to access the information when required.
It is important that information recorded in a flashID device be up-to-date and certainly updated annually. So flashID owners are encouraged to register while completing their Emergency
Identification Document (EID). An email reminder will then be sent annually as a reminder to update information.
Personal Information can be password protected against unauthorised amendment.

In over half a century of involvement in international motor sport – as a driver, as an administrator and as a team manager and owner Peter Wearing Smith has seen safety in the sport improve in leaps and bounds.

In 2003, having bought a USB flash key during a visit to China, Wearing Smith was wondering what to do with it when the thought occurred that a simple, easily portable device such as this would be ideal for storing identification and medical information relating to the holder.
This was the start of a period of evolution of the flashID concept and of the Emergency Identification Document (EID) which has been developed after extensive consultation with police and other emergency services professionals.
The flashID concept works across all age groups and a variety of personal needs.
For example from the flashID website files - Rod (40) Victoria conducts escorted outback expeditions. He carries a flashID containing his medical records - and recommends that his clients do likewise
Duncan (55) New Zealand is an avid tramper (hiker) and traveller. His flashID contains a copy of the title page of his passport, along with details of emergency contacts in Australia and the UK in addition to New Zealand.
George (10) New South Wales has an allergy to nuts and nut products. Having experienced one anaphylactic reaction, he now carries a flashID with details of his condition, along with next of kin and family doctor.
Greg (42) Queensland is HIV positive. His flashID shows his key medical data and current treatment.
Patricia (19) Tasmania is now in her gap year and planning a world trip. Her flashID holds travel insurance details, copy of her key passport pages, inoculation details and emergency contacts.

Both sides carry the flashID symbol on green background for rapid recognition. It is attaches easily to a key ring, lanyard or mobile phone. It is light to carry and information can be accessed quickly.
The flashID Card fits neatly in your wallet or purse: The flashID Card is the same size as a normal driver's licence or credit card (though a little thicker).

It has a protective plastic sleeve. Whether it is upside-down or back-to-front, it is still clearly recognisable as flashID. (Card $A55 plus postage).
The flashID Watch is a filing cabinet on your wrist: Like the Card and the Classic the flashID Watch has 512 Mb of memory and is immediately recognisable by the flashID symbol on the watch face.

flashID accessories include a safety green wristband and lanyard alert.
flashID operates on computers which have Windows 98SE or above and have a USB port. This also applies to some, though not all, Apple Mac computers running OSX or above and using MS Word.
Windows XP will automatically recognise flashID, but it may be necessary to download a driver for older versions.
