The Top Tourist Parks of Australia's Hugh Diedrich Award is not easily earned and is given only at the discretion of the board. At the Top Tourist Parks annual conference in Darwin the award once again recognizes exceptional effort over the long-haul for the benefit of Top Tourist Park members by Richard Davis.
Hugh Diedrich put it in a nutshell – “There is little difference in people but that little difference makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative”.
Richard Davis fits the positive Hugh Diedrich award mould with a commitment to the extra lap for Top Tourist Parks which starts in 1991 and honors the input of a dedicated Top Tourist Parks board member.
In 1997 the then 110 Top Tourist Parks members were the first chain to have their own website

Top Tourist Parks of Australia CEO Bill Pycroft said the Hugh Diedrich Award recognizes exceptional effort over the long-haul for the benefit of Top Tourist Park members. Bill Pycroft is also a Diedrich Award winner.
Richard Davis is exceptional in his service to the caravan and camping industry in Australia over decades.
He is a positive force and typically, in August at the SA Parks conference in Victor Harbour, he told SA caravan park delegates that the caravan park industry is too busy to take part in the world economic recession.
