Strong Border RV Camping Expo support brings expansion on route to Wodonga kick-off in August

The inaugural Border RV & Camping Expo at Wodonga & District Turf Club from August 26 to 28 is already bigger.
“We thought it would start out a bit smaller than our existing Bendigo
Leisurefest, but it has already exceeded Bendigo in size", Event organiser Peter Wright said today.
The local community has taken the event to its heart, with both Wodonga and Albury councils and business groups keen to see it succeed, he said.
Event organiser the Caravan Trade & Industries Association of Victoria (CTIAV) has substantially expanded the expo site to accommodate exhibitors.
“Fortunately, the Turf Club has ample room for us to make the event bigger, so we can now boast a show that is bigger than regional Australia has ever seen, bar none,” Peter Wright said.
“This event is going to bring plenty of business to town, with hundreds of exhibitor staff staying in the area, and thousands of day trippers coming to see the show,” he said.
“We’re delighted to be part of something that really speaks of optimism and initiative.”
Peter Wright said Albury-Wodonga was a natural for a major new leisure show, with its location at the junction of the Hume Highway and the Murray River.
“It’s hard to think of a more natural area for RVs and caravans", he said.

"The Hume Highway is on the way to everywhere, and there is nothing quite like the Murray as a leisure destination,” he said.
“Not surprisingly, we have had a tremendous response from exhibitors who are keen to show off their wares to the community of the border region, the Riverina and northern Victoria.
“This is going to be a great show right from the first year and it will be a major event on the Australian leisure calendar", he said.
Peter Wright manages the logistics of caravan industries events which grew to unprecedented levels on his watch as CTIAV Executive Officer.
CTIAV stages the Victorian Caravan Camping & Touring Supershow at Caulfield and the Melbourne and Bendigo Leisurefests, which last year attracted a total of 107,000 people.
CTIAV President Peter May says the events portfolio will grow.
“The inaugural Border RV & Camping Expo at Wodonga from 26 to 28 August gives the border region the same quality of major industry show as our Victorian Caravan Camping & Touring Supershow at Caulfield and the Melbourne and Bendigo Leisurefests", Peter May said.
"Also, following a tradition we have established in Bendigo, we will donate $5,000 to a local charity each year,” Peter Wright said.
CTIAV’s new Executive Officer Robert Lucas, who took over the role on July 1, has lived and worked on the border for the past 12 years with the last four years as General Manager of Wodonga Chamber of Commerce.
Robert Lucas has a background in industry and business services and education, with a focus on business and industry development.

The Border RV & Camping Expo at Wodonga & District Turf Club continues the CTIAV value for families approach to Expos. Gate prices are $10 adults, $8 concession and free for kids under 15 – with free parking and free kids’ activities including the Anaconda Climbing Wall. It is open 9.30 am to 5pm on the Friday and Saturday, and 9.30 am to 4 pm on Sunday.
