Penrith Expo pulls 25,000 despite depressed super funds bogged in acute stocks jitters
Penrith Expo- tents pull
The volatility of the stock market did not affect sales at the Penrith Caravan, Camping and Holiday Expo last weekend. The 13th Penrith Expo was an outstanding success. Many exhibitors said that it was their best Expo yet.
It is estimated that 25,000 visitors attended the event held at Penrith Panthers from Friday 9 – Sunday 11 September. Barry Baillie, CEO of the NSW Caravan and Camping Industry Association attributes the Expo’s success to the abundance of bargains and the continued strength of the caravan and camping industry.
“It was great to see that exhibitors accommodated for the current instability of superannuation funds by providing unbeatable deals and bargains throughout the three days.”
This year’s circumstances are similar to that of the economic downturn in 2008.
Whilst most tourism sectors suffered, caravan and camping holidays increased in occupancy rates and product sales.

“Australian’s are still going on caravan and camping holidays in their droves knowing it is the best way to spend quality time with the family, enjoy a natural experience and catch up with old (and new) friends without breaking the bank, Barry Baillie said.”
“Aussies desire the true camaraderie that only a caravan and camping holiday can provide. With something for every budget and the large range of accommodation and touring options available it is easy to see why caravan and camping holidays have been the fastest growing domestic tourism sector for the past 15 years, he said.”
Over 150 exhibitors displayed the latest models and makes of caravans, motorhomes, campervans, camper trailers, 5th wheelers, slide-ons, tents and camping equipment, caravan and 4WD accessories, holiday park displays and tourism destinations.
Free entry parking and entertainment ensured that the Penrith Expo was an inexpensive day out for the entire family. For more information on next year’s event and other caravan and camping expo’s throughout the year visit www.caravan-camping.com.au.
