GSA prize adds to moment for Darren and Karyn as Mentals Rock conference
Darren and Karyn with Graham
(l) and Alan.
Our congratulations to Darren and Karyn Core who operate Poplar Tourist Park at Elderslie NSW and recently acquired Shellharbour Beachside Tourist Park at Shellharbour NSW.
They won the ContACT Internet Solutions and GoSeeAustralia Advertorial prize valued at $1100.
ContACT Managing Director Graham Wallace and GoSeeAustralia Sales Manager Alan Hislop presented the prize to Darren and Karyn at the Caravan and Recreational Vehicle and Accommodation Industry of Australia (CRVA) conference on Queensland's Gold Coast.
The Advertorial package provides an ideal opportunity for the special promotion of both caravan parks to GoSeeAustralia’s 10,000 plus users per day.
Karyn finds herself a winner
Darren and Karyn were among more than 520 industry participants at the conference and were caught up in the moment at the Industry Gala Dinner which ends the annual three-day conference.
The 'moment' included Aussie legends Mental as Anything, but, in the face of this stiff New Wave Pop Rock band competition the ContACT Internet Solutions/GoSeeAustralia improved the night for Darren and Karyn.
The 'Mentals had top 50 chart success with 'Too Many Times' and its album, Cats & Dogs in Canada, which followed touring North America in support of Men At Work. 'Live it Up' reached the top 50 in European charts including peaking at No. 3 in UK, No. 4 in Norway, and No. 6 in Germany, after it featured in the 1986 Australian film 'Crocodile Dundee'. The band was formed at a Sydney art school in 1976.
Their top 10 Australian singles are, If You Leave Me, Can I Come Too? and Too Many Times in 1981, Live it Up in 1985 and Rock and Roll Music in 1988. While their top 10 albums are, Cats & Dogs in 1981, Creatures of Leisure in 1983, Fundamental in 1985 and Greatest Hits Vol. 1 in 1986. On 16 August 1997, Mental As Anything celebrated 20 years together with the same line-up.
