South Australian Caravan Camping and Off-Road Sale offers self-drive value
2013 Jayco Starcraft Outback
The Caravan Camping and Off-Road Sale on Thursday 1st to Sunday 4th of August is South Australia’s biggest mid-year sale of outdoor recreation and self-drive holiday products and services.
The Sale is at Adelaide Showground, Wayville from 10am to 5pm each day. More than 100 specialist exhibitors provide a showcase of self-drive travel products and services. About 50 different brands of caravan, camper, motorhome and every other configuration will be on Sale.
In the RV market Jayco holds a 45 percent market share. Jayco Marketing Coordinator Kristie Pritchard, told GoSeeAustralia in a recent meeting that, notably, this year the leading RV builder is tweaking its Starcraft range to provide keenly priced product to fit a huge range of buyer needs. There are three new layouts in place across the Starcraft Pop-Top range, she said.
The Jayco value build includes solid furniture, microwave, air conditioner, LED lighting, innerspring mattress and SMEV 4 burner gas grill, lift up beds to maximise space, flushing stainless steel sink with cover, rubber backed curtains and ties, plus a Dometic 3-way fridge.
The new Starcraft 15.48-5, 16.67-4 and 16.67-5 floorplans are worth a close look by RV buyers who may have been considering a second-hand caravan. The 16.67-5 and 16.67-4 Starcraft Pop-Top floorplans include ensuite with shower and toilet at the rear of the caravan, Kristie Pritchard told GSA.
This is a convenient, comfortable configuration which appeals to GoSee and this reflects in a run of our Jayco-built company caravans over the last 10 years. Right now GSA uses two Sterlings, a 23ft and 21ft with roll-outs.
Budget buying doesn’t translate to lack of choice with Jayco. The Starcraft Pop-Top is available in multiple designs, while the Starcraft Caravan has five versatile floor plans. For young families and the budget conscious the Starcraft is value buying with quality supported by warranty and support services.
These are benefits not usually found in a second-hand caravan purchase.
Developed with a cladded aluminium frame, the Starcraft offers features that some other RV builders call options. Starcraft caravans and Pop-Tops come with Jayco's galvanised 'Endurance Chassis' and an upgraded external trunk door with access to more storage space. All Jayco RVs are built in Australia and come with a three-year roadside assist program and 12 month warranty.
The Jayco range of RV options includes Discovery pop-top, Expanda pop-top and caravan, Sterling pop-top and caravan, Work N'Play toy hauler, Base Station toy hauler, campervans, Conquest and Optimum motorhomes, plus a 5th wheeler.
The SA Sale event features an informative and interactive seminar and demonstration program to help people get the most from holidays on wheels. The daily seminar program includes:
Tips for safer towing from Police Road Safety Centre specialist, Senior Constable First Class Paul Bryant.
Working holidays: Earn while you see Australia by Warren Williams of Workabout Australia.
Exploring Australian by 4WD by top-selling travel writers Craig Lewis and Cathy Savage; and Holidays for next to nothing and weekends away in SA by Andrew “Cosi” Costello of Channel 9’s South Aussie program.
The Caravan and Camping Industries Association of SA (CCIASA) is the organiser. The Sale is held undercover. All the major pavilions and exhibition areas are used which produces a total exhibition area of almost 25,000 sq.m.

CCIASA Chief Executive Officer, Stuart Livingstone, said the industry expected the show to be one of the most successful for years with the growing appeal of caravanning and camping among younger families.
“For couples with children, caravanning and camping is an affordable and fun way to holiday with some of the nation’s most outstanding parks and camping locations within easy reach of Adelaide,” he said.
“Caravanning and camping goes beyond adventure experiences and getting close to nature. This type of holidaying offers many learning, lifestyle and health benefits for whole families. Improvement in the performance of superannuation funds will also encourage older people and retirees to invest in the touring lifestyle.”
Tickets are available at the gate or there is an online promotion 2 for 1 admission ticket offer.
A new edition of the National Caravan & Recreational Vehicle Towing Guide has been released in both eBook and hard copy. Limited supplies will be available at the show office. With all the great places to explore at the Caravan, Camping & Off-Road Sale a Child Safety Wristband helps avoid the trauma of children lost is in a crowded place. Child Safety Wristbands are free at the Show Office located in the south/east corner of the Goyder Pavilion.
The latest National Visitors Survey by Tourism Research Australia shows 9.467 million people participated in caravanning and camping in 2012, representing 13 per cent of the total domestic tourism market. In South Australia, 621,000 visitors stayed in a caravan park or commercial camping ground last year while 422,000 took their mobile homes to private properties.
