Narrabri is situated midway between Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane on the Newell Highway.

Highway Tourist Village won the 2003 Bronze Gum Nut Award for Ecological Park, and is an ideal location to break a journey, offering 3-STAR accommodation including cabins, caravan sites and tent sites.

The local area around Narrabri with its clear blue skies, has a wealth of attractions to visit during your stopover, and Highway Tourist Village and Narrabri Caravan Park offers a unique opportunity to stop, relax and enjoy.

Notable geographical features include the lofty Mt Kaputar National Park to the east, the vast black soil plain to the west the 1 million acre Pilliga Scrub to the south. The Pilliga Scrub (part of which is in the Pilliga Nature Reserve) is a form of eucalypt forest.

The Giant Australian Telescope is located 18 kilometres from Narrabri. It is accessible via a sealed road. There is a very well presented visitors centre with display cases, a theatrette and a souvenir shop.
