Kings Park Festival

The Kings Park Festival is a long-running tradition to celebrate spring and the wonderful wildflowers that appear throughout the south-west of Western Australia during this time.

From its humble beginnings as a five day event in 1964, depicting plant specimens in jars on trestle tables, the festival has blossomed into the current format of floral displays, live music, exhibitions, workshops, interpretive artworks, guided walks and family activities during the entire month of September.

Nature Play Belair National Park

Each month, Nature Play SA in partnership with the Department of Environment, Water & Natural Resources showcases one of SA's beautiful National Parks.

Most of us have enjoyed family picnics or events at Belair National Park but you may not have appreciated all that the Park has to offer. Not only is it home to Old Government House and State Flora Nursery, but it is home to one of a few undisturbed areas of native vegetation. There is so much to explore here from lakes and woodlands, to bushland and waterfalls.

We challenge you to explore a part of Belair National Park you've never visited before. Watch out for Jason's blog for details of what you can do and see in Belair in September.

Mildura Country Music Festival

When Australian country music fans talk of the festival biggies, the Mildura Country Music Festival rates a mention alongside the Tamworth Country Music Festival and the Gympie Muster as one of the big three. The major difference between the other two and the annual Mildura Country Music Festival is that Mildura has Australia's biggest showcase of Independent entertainers. What that means is a seemingly unending cast of highly talented professional country music artists who aren't signed to major record label deals.

The venues, 25 in all, spread from the City Mall providing all-day entertainment at central city venues in Mildura to outlying locations like Wentworth, Merbein, Red Cliffs, Coomealla, Irymple, Buronga and Gol Gol. Every taste is catered for with Line Dancing, Country Rock, Bluegrass, Bush Ballads and daily Walk Ups for those not on the program.

The 30th Mildura County Music Festival runs from Friday, September 23rd to Sunday, October 2nd, 2016

Deni Ute Muster

Many suggestions were raised and discussions centered on the shape and genre of the new festival, what was unanimously agreed though, was that it must showcase our pride of our unique Deniliquin way of life.

Hence the Deni Play on the Plains Festival was conceived, a festival to be held on the flattest, natural, open plains on earth, ute culture an intrinsic part of Deniliquin, would play a major part of the festival and hence the Deni World Record Ute Muster burst into the national psyche >>>>

Mary Valley Scarecrow Festival

The inaugural Maleny Scarecrow Festival occurred in 1998 with the concept of a community event that would celebrate the unique rural character of Maleny through the creation and display of scarecrows. Since ancient times, scarecrows have been used throughout the world, not only to protect crops, but also in the belief that their presence would increase fertility and enrich the harvest.

Lyn Fellowes was inspired by this artistic form of cultural expression, to initiate a celebration of creativity through community involvement, having realized that the breathtaking emerald landscape of Maleny was the perfect setting for these incredible characters.
