Ford Trans Cooler

Posted By:Davo60
Hi Bituman,

As you say a trans cooler is very important for a tow vehicle, our BF MK11 ford wagon had a trans cooler fitted to in front of the radiator. This is a bigger job on the BF models as the trans fluid does not cool via a radiator connection. Instead a small alloy devise is fitted at the rear of the engine by the fly wheel housing, so you must install piping from a AU - BA model and then fit the trans cooler as normal. I have just had my Transmission repaired ($3000) it had only done 40,000kms, problem the rubber hoses supplied with to the transcooler kit one section only lasted 7 months and split 30mm in the centre. Result immediate loss of all trans fluid and screwed the clutches and other parts. In future I will check trans cooler hoses at regular intervals. With regards to the hose, only answer todate faulty when manufactured. Has anyone else every loss trans fluid via a split trans hose ?
