Over the past 30 yrs, Phil Jones and his family have travelled about 750,000km caravanning and campervanning around Australia. The motorhome he currently travels in was purchased in late 2003, and since then Phil has done another 200,000km touring Australia.
Phil and his partner, Alayne Russell have been running escorted RV tours for Australians since 2006. During this time they created 15 geographic regional tours and offered them to members of the motorhome club of Australia (CMCA) before now offering them to the public.
All the Tag Along Tours travel via a mixture of main highways, secondary country roads, and occasionally outback isolated roads. While gravel roads in country areas are often hard to avoid, no 'off-road' travel is undertaken.
TAG ALONG TOURS

Phil Jones's Tag Along Tours are different from many others in that all of them are extended 14 - 21 or 28-day tours giving you lots of time to get to know your fellow travellers and make new friends.
The tours get off the beaten track where possible and away from major highways, and are an exciting way of meeting and greeting the real Australia. With every tour you will travel along many country back roads, and perhaps may even meet a drover and cattle or sheep somewhere down the 'long paddock'.
Each days travel is from 150km to 300km with driving for about 3-4 hours during the day leaving plenty of time for exploring towns and other venues as we go. Each nights camping is at a mixture of caravan parks and independent camping locations.
To enhance personal contact between participants, tours are compact with a maximum of 10 vehicles per tour, though usually 5-7 vehicles are in the group.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Phil Jones has also had a life-long interest in photography. Since the early 1960s he has much experience in Camera Clubs in both Melbourne and Canberra, and has exhibited his work at both local and National Exhibition levels. In 2007 Phil held a one-man exhibition of 50 panorama photographs from his travels through outback Australia.
He has been an adult-education lecturer in Photographic Techniques since the mid 70s while developing a number of course streams for use in colleges around Canberra. The Learn Digital Photography course is a composite of two courses he has conducted at the adult education campus of the Canberra College (A.C.T.) for the past few years.
PHOTOGRAPHY COURSES
The Learn Digital Photography courses are unique in Australia. Phil Jones is the only bloke offering Digital Photography courses to travellers and Grey Nomads who are staying at caravan parks while on holidays.
Each 5-day residential course covers much of the techno-stuff in camera controls, compact & dSLR cameras, lots of 'how-to' topics and daily practical excursions. Each day consists a 2-1/2 hour workshop followed by a couple of hours out taking photos; each afternoon during Happy-Hour that dayss photos are evaluated within the group.
Students with a camera which has some manual controls will best enjoy the course, but all students are equal here as we are engaged in 'photography' not 'camera'. Students DO NOT need an expensive, interchangeable-lens dSLR camera although if you have one, or an 'ultra-zoom' fixed-lens digital compact, you will discover lots of tricks about its use.
