CAREERS IN HOLIDAY PARKS
MANAGERS, ASSISTANT MANANGERS, RELIEF MANANGERS
Tasks and Duties include:
- Manage the park including business management, financial management, staff supervision and development, office systems and the provision of services
- Receive bookings and reservations
- Talk to customers and tourists
- Develop and put into place operational plans for the park
- Ground maintenance
- Housekeeping
- Manage the legal compliance aspects of the business, risk management and occupational health and safety issues
- Conduct marketing and promotional activities for the park and local area
- Talk to local tourism authorities
- Undertake regular repair, maintenance and up-grading work
Work Conditions:
Caravan park and camping ground managers usually work shifts so they may be required to work on weekends or public holidays and long shifts during busy periods. Some of the work is outdoors and the work must be done in all kinds of weather. They are usually required to live at the caravan park.

- Pool maintenance
- Repair broken windows, screens, doors, fences, furniture, fittings and other articles
- Replace defective items such as light bulbs
- Repair and paint interior and exterior surfaces such as walls, ceilings and fences
- Clear rubbish and leaves from driveways and grounds
- Perform a basic security role by checking that doors and gates are locked, security lights are on, and by being a visible presence to passers-by
Work Conditions
Groundsman/Caretaker/Handypersons work indoors and outdoors. They are required to work in all weather conditions. Caretakers may have to lift heavy objects and work at heights.

HOUSEKEEPERS
Tasks and Duties:
Cleaners may perform the following tasks:
- operate vacuum cleaners to clean floors, work areas and machinery
- clean, dust and polish furniture and fittings
- sweep, mop, scrub and polish floors, shampoo carpets and rugs, and strip wax and polish from floors clean walls and windows
- clean and disinfect laundry, kitchen, toilet and bathroom fixtures and floors
- laundering
- empty and clean ashtrays and waste containers
- clean areas surrounding buildings, such as paths and entrances
- remove graffiti
Work Conditions
Cleaners are often responsible for the security of the building in which they are working. This responsibility includes the holding of keys and, when leaving, making sure that lights and electrical appliances are turned off, that the building is secure, and that any security breaches are reported to building owners or managers.
Cleaners often work irregular hours in shifts and may be employed as full-time, part-time or casual staff.
