PENETROL RUST CONTROL PRIMER - HOW RUST SHOULD BE TREATED!
THE PENETROL RANGE - produced by Flood Australia is The only way to prevent control rust! The only way to prepare any type of surface to paint!
What makes rust? Ordinary paint primers bridge over the small imperfections found on any metal surface. Under this bridge air is trapped. Air contains moisture this mixture of oxygen hydrogen forms iron-hydroxide i.e. rust. Take one of them away you eliminate rust. Under a microscope rust looks like a sponge full of air.
PENETROL, due to its low surface tension being three times thinner than water, will penetrate all the way through this sponge driving out the air moisture and completely saturate the rust right down to the unattacked iron steel. It has literally taken away the food rust needs to form, by turning the existing rust into a protective coating, so further rust formation is stopped and the paint is assured of 100% contact with the metal surface, the most important requirement for effective metal protection.
Use PENETROL on structural steel, cast and wrought iron, wire fences, cars, trucks trailers, corrugated iron, garden tools, tanks or anything made from ferrous non-ferrous metal. PENETROL flows easily into crevices, welding seams, pipe joints and other areas that are hard to reach by brush, such as the inside of car doors. Penetrol can also be used to bond paint to timber and brick. Amazingly it can also be used as a primer on glass and other non porous surfaces like laminated Perspex before painting.
PENETROL makes it easy to stop and prevent further rust This is how easy it is to use PENETROL. Just saturate the rusted surface with PENETROL until it has a shiny appearance. When dry, continue with any oil, alkyd water based paint. The main thing to remember about treating rust is that if you can’t reach all areas of all surfaces, you’re ultimately wasting your time. All three PENETROL products dry without any dangerous fumes and can be used safely in confined areas.
PENETROL CIP Corrosion Inhibiting Primer C.I.P is a commercial grade all weather primer made with Penetrol, originally developed as a dependable coating for ballast tanks for cargo holds. It makes a secure base on hand cleaned steel for any type of top coating including 2-part epoxies, urethanes, vinyl, chlorinated rubber and other catalysing coatings, as well as any type of conventional finish. Granular and tightly bonded rust need not be removed either, it is also an excellent protective primer for outdoor wood structures prior to painting. CIP has a reddish brown matte finish, so if this is the look finish you are looking for, no top coat is required. Highly flexible so it will not crack, peel or blister and does not require sanding prior to top coating.
Penetrol ALUMINIUM Anti-Corrosion Treatment Penetrol Aluminium combines the strength durability of A-grade aluminium with the outstanding penetrating powers of PENETROL It is very flexible and will not crack or peel, with excellent heat and light reflecting properties maintaining viscosity under temperatures up to 120o. Penetrol Aluminium will restore rusted trailers, exhaust pipes, storage tanks, steel structures and any corroded surfaces to an acceptable appearance, giving lasting protection against further deterioration.
MARINE PENETROL Marine Penetrol makes varnish flow like oil in any weather. It bonds paint to almost anything, stops rust and controls corrosion. Marine Penetrol restores lustre to faded fibreglass.
ONE EASY APPLICATION OF PENETROL PRIMES, SEALS, BONDS
What is it? Marine Penetrol is a versatile blend of natural oils with a penetration power 3 times more than water and a powerful bonding ability. High in solids, non-toxic when dry, clear with low odour it is user friendly and recommended by major paint manufacturers and shipping companies where it has been used alone or in paint for over 60 years.
What Does it Do? Penetrol creeps into the most minute crevices and pinholes present on any surface where ordinary paint and varnish cannot enter. There it dries to a tough flexible finish, forming a powerful bonding film for paint and varnish making them flow in even the hottest weather, eliminating brush marks, premature peeling, chalking and cracking.
Used in varnish or oil based paint it enhances their inherent qualities and makes them stick to almost anything - even glass. No more uneven paint film, a major cause in early paint breakdown. Unlike thinners, Marine Penetrol does not evaporate but makes more paint, giving greater coverage from each litre of paint and actually saves money.
What it Can't Do Marine Penetrol cannot be used in or under 2-part paint, chlorinated rubber or coal tar. When unsure, mix a small amount first to determine compatibility.
See our website for more information. PENETROL is available from Bunnings and most large hardware stores, together with paint stores etc.
