The FOOD TRAIL TOURS EXPERIENCE is a gourmet food and wine day tour from Cairns visiting food producers and processors, while exploring the flat plains, rolling hills and lush rainforest of the Atherton Tablelands.
The tour includes tropical fruit wines, coffee and macadamias plantations, plus a cheeses and chocolate factory.

View amazing landscapes, while at the same time tasting your way through the regions tropical paradise.
Visit cellar doors, and be taken on interactive plantation tours, where you meet the people running the businesses and gain an insights into their lifestyles. Hear how they produce food and wine in a tropical environment.
Local guides with a passion for locally produced food and wine provide informative commentary throughout the day. You will hear about the crops you see along the roadside, even more, about what the region produces, the amazing history of this area, and points of interest you may otherwise miss.
Stopping at Lake Barrine you see massive Twin Kauri pines and enjoy afternoon tea over looking a volcanic crater lake and later the amazing Cathedral Fig tree.
Features of your day :
- Wine tastings at two tropical fruit wineries, include still wines, fortified wines, liqueurs and tropical creams, in the worlds first tropical fruit wine region.
- At a Coffee Plantation you step back in time, tour the plantation and meet people who grow, processes and ship 40 tonne of coffee a year, direct to consumers without advertising. You will enjoy their delightful coffee for morning tea.
- On arrival at the Macadamia Plantation you take an informative farm tour, which covers all aspects of growing and harvesting. In the farm shed, you then hear about processing and taste the products.
- At a small historic hotel, the amazing tour lunch features tropical seafood with salad, garlic bread and other local produce. Alternatives can be arranged - on the day.
- At a local dairy farm you will hear how cheeses are made, after which you have the opportunity to taste both the cheeses and chocolates they produce.
- Afternoon tea is served on the veranda of the Lake Barrine teahouse overlooking a volcanic crater lake. Here there is also a short stroll to the massive, 1000 year old, Twin Kauri pines.
- The last stop of the day provides just a little exercise with a short stroll to a massive, 500 year old, Cathedral fig tree.
You may not want dinner after a day grazing on tropical delights.
