From late July to early November the mighty humpback whale reaches the sanctuary of Hervey Bay for some well earned rest, relaxation and fun interaction with whale watchers.
After many months of travelling up the east coast of Australia the humpback whales reach their destination to give birth to their calves, mate, indulge in some playful antics and generally take a break from travelling before their long journey back home to the Antarctic.

The MV Spirit of Hervey Bay is a 24 metre ocean going catamaran which offers you the ultimate chance to see these beautiful creatures with unparalleled viewing opportunities both above and below the waterline.
See the whales in their natural surrounds beneath the waterline through one of our underwater viewing windows which are located in both hulls of the boat, yes you are beneath the waterline experiencing the whales in their underawater world.
Come and feel the exhilaration of eye-balling a humpback whale and getting closer than you ever thought possible to them. Their curious nature beckons them to swim alongside the vessels windows and have a peek inside. Are we watching them? Or are they watching us?
Watch in amazement as they swim back and forth beneath the boat as though toying with the passengers. It truly gets your heart racing to be so close to such a magnificent and graceful animal. Experience their sheer size as they roll and wallow, wrestle and breach (jump out of the water) with Fraser Island as their backdrop.

Departs Hervey Bay Marina at 1.30pm, returning at 5.30pm and includes afternoon tea.
