The Little Desert Nature Lodge is operated by the Little Desert Flora and Fauna Foundation, a registered tax deductable organisation managed by Conservation Volunteers Australia.
Environmental Education Program
The Little Desert Nature Lodge offers an extensive Environmental Educational Program featuring:
- Professionally structured “hands-on” environmental studies program, which can be tailored for any age group
- Resource books designed to enhance student’s educational experience
- Full campsite accreditation by the Camping Association of Victoria Inc.
- Travel subsidy available to assist with fares.
Tours and Attractions:
- Malleefowl Aviary
Located on the Lodge property, the Malleefowl Aviary is the only captive breeding program for Malleefowl in Victoria. Observe the birds as they work on their huge incubation mounds, constructed from leaf-litter, sticks and sand.
The guided tour of the aviary takes between 30-45 minutes, incorporating a nature trail along the way, where examples of native Little Desert Flora and Fauna can be observed.

- Malleefowl Discovery
A tour to the Malleefowl Sanctuary provides a rare opportunity to see the endangered birds in the wild.
Duration 2-3 hours. Cost: 1 - 2 people - $125.00. Group rates available
- Nocturnal Wildlife Encounter
Take a night walk to see nocturnal creatures of the bush
Duration 45 minutes. Cost: Adults $15.00
- Bushwalking
The Lodge property contains a number of nature trails, taking in a variety of native vegetation. Trails are marked with numbered posts, which identify the plant species that you encounter along the way.
ACCOMMODATION
Over the years the Little Desert Nature Lodge has seen much growth and now houses 24 Ensuite Rooms, 16 Bunkrooms, and a large Dining Room. For caravanners and campers we have a large camping area with 30 powered and an large number un-powered sites available.
The Little Desert Nature Lodge hosts a large number of schools, coach tours and international guests annually.
Dining, Bar and Functions
The Lodge Dining Room caters for group bookings including tour groups, functions, conferences and weddings (a minimum of 25 people for bookings).
The air-conditioned dining area can seat up to 140 guests and features a beautiful limestone fireplace where delicious meals can be enjoyed by the glow of an open log fire. The dining room has a fully licensed bar where patrons can partake in a selection of fine wines and beer in a friendly atmosphere.
