Great NZ Food Show at Mystery Creek showcases Waikato for three delicious days

The Great NZ Food Show, Waikatos vibrant culinary event will showcase the best in food, wine and the latest in delicious edibles and innovative products.

It is more than just tastings, food can be enjoyed by the plate, wine by the glass and loads of entertainment over the three day show. In the Heathcote Appliances Cooking Theatre, chefs go head to head in the popular Vilagrad Winery Mystery Cook off, and showgoers can learn with the Wintec Cooking Classes in association with Heathcote Appliances.

The Heathcote Appliances Cooking Theatre on Friday May 22 is dedicated to the talent and skills of Chefs from restaurants and eateries within the Waikato region. There will be signature dishes by chefs such as Andrew Clarke from Victoria Street Bistro, Nathan Hartley from SKYCITY Hamilton and Mike Huitema from Bluestone Steakhouse.

A partner of the show is Waikato Food Inc, a member based organisation within the Waikato who celebrate food grown, produced and served in the region. Board Member Sara Towers says, Partnering with The Great NZ Food Show is an opportunity to promote the Waikato as a diverse food producing region, and provides a platform to celebrate and promote Waikatos food and beverages that are grown, produced and served to locals and visitors to the region. It will help show that the Waikato is a world class food producing region.

A new area to the show highlights this, introducing the Taste of Waikato in the Seat and Eat Area. Showgoers can sit down and enjoy a glass of wine, beer or cider and sample food from top Waikato Eateries; Paddock, SKYCITY Hamiltons Zone Sports Bar, Thai Cooking Partys, Domaine Eatery, Banh Mi Caphe Ltd along with Vilagrad Winery and Good George Brewing. Black Dog also features in this area, with food and cold drinks and their gorgeous furniture.

Event Manager Michele Connell says, We are very proud of our region, and all the talented chefs, incredible eateries and delicious products that are produced here. Until recently Hamilton was the only city which did not have its own food show, which is why The Great NZ Food Show came to light, and is the perfect opportunity to highlight and show off everything we have here in the Waikato.

The Great NZ Food Show is at Mystery Creek, Friday 22 Sunday 24 May.
