'Just a look' wins major Victorian Supershow Passport Nova caravan prize

The winners of the Victorian Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow Passport Competition 18ft Nova Metrolink Family Caravan went to the Supershow - "Just to have a look".

Norman and Kerry Orr of Launching Place Victoria have never been caravan or camping before, but all their friends are huge fans of the industry and advised them to go to the show just to have a look.

And now they are the lucky owner of an 18ft Nova Metrolink Family Caravan worth over $48,000.

"Happy!" Norman Orr said today."Really this is Day One for us.

It ispretty unbelieveable , I have never won anything. When we got to the Show I said to Kerry I was going to go in every competition and I am going to win something today. There were a lot of Passport check points and we almost did not go on, but we kept at it and won,Norman Orr said.

Now we have reached a fork in the road and we are sitting back thinking about it.

We enjoy looking around we are just back from a week in Tasmania. We are interested in Australia so we won't be going overseas.

The Passport to Freedom competition at the Supershow was the biggest in years.

Second prize, an Avan Weekender Camper, was won by P.Bennett from Laverton.

I. Wilson from Hamilton won 3rd prize, the Getaway Towing Package, and J. Jeffries of Pascoe Vale South won 4th prize, caravan hire from Eastern Caravan Hire. The 61st Supershow featured more caravans, camper trailers, motorhomes and travel accessories than ever before.

More than 1200 individual recreational vehicles were on display, more than any Australian show in history.

This has been a monumental move for the Victorian Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow and we were thrilled with the response to the new venue and our ability to show off the industry in a more professional light, Rob Lucas said.

Its good to know that all the hard work that the Association has put in over the last year has resulted in the best show yet and we cant wait to get cracking on making next years show even bigger.

The Victorian Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow will return to Melbourne Showgrounds in early 2016 and work is already underway to build upon the success of this years show.

The first Victorian Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow at Melbourne Showgrounds laid the foundation for even bigger Supershows in the years ahead Caravan Industry Association of Victoria (CIA Vic) CEO, Rob Lucas, said today.

He said he was delighted with the Supershows first trip to the Melbourne Showgrounds. Despite searing heat, a new location and a new time, attendance was over 51,000.

There were more products than even before, a better visitor experience, informative seminars and some great prizes.
