With their first entry in the South Australian Tourism Awards the Caravan and Camping Industries Assocation of South Australia won their category with a submission which highlighted the associations annual marketing plan.
The Caravan and Camping Industries Association of South Australia marketing plan includes initiatives like the South Australian Caravan and Camping Show, Go! Caravan and Camping South Australia television series and the Caravan and Camping Industries Assocation of South Australia website.
The Caravan and Camping Industries Assocation of South Australia aims are to increase the profile and awareness of the SA caravan and camping self-drive holiday industry. It recognised the support and dedication of the CCIASA membership and the contribution the industry makes to the economy of South Australia.
The Caravan and Camping Industries Association of South Australia won the Tourism Product Marketing category of the 2006 South Australian Tourism Awards in recognition of its contribution to the spectacular growth of self-drive tourism and its promotion of the many and varied holiday destinations in SA and beyond.
The Caravan and Camping Industries Assocation of South Australia promotes excellence in a sector that covers a vast spectrum of member participants from manufacturers and retailers of motor homes, caravans, camper vans, camper trailers and camping equipment to suppliers of products and services.
It embraces wider industry participants in regional areas employing tens of thousands of people generating millions of dollars each year into the South Australias tourism and recreational economy.
CCIASA accepts the Tourism Product Marketing Award
South Australian Minister for Tourism Jane Lomax-Smith said - Tourism is big business in South Australia and the awards are an important way of recognising the contribution of our tourism achievers to building the economy and creating jobs. There were 120 enteries for the South Australian Tourism Awards, underlining their importance as an industry benchmark.
Twenty-nine awards were presented to tourism businesses and individuals judged the most outstanding in each category.
This year, two million Australians have enjoyed the freedom, affordability and quality of caravan and camping holidays Mike Griggs, President of the Caravan and Camping Industries Association of SA (CCIASA) told GoSeeAustralia.
Increasingly, Australians recognise there is no better way to see Australia than by a self-drive holiday, he said.

Choice is a key word in the self-drive sector of the tourism industry. It applies not only in terms of destination and length of stay, but also in the selection of units from tents to camper trailers, caravans and motorhomes.
More than 18,000 new caravans have been manufactured in Australia this year, compared with less than 5,000 in 1995, he told GoSeeAustralia.
Importantly, our surveys of people enjoying self-drive holidays show that it is an industry focussed on Australians of all ages. Increasing numbers of younger people, especially families, are buying caravans and camper trailers to discover a new dimension in affordable holidays.
People attending the Caravan and Camping Show at Wayville this year were asked about their caravan and camping holiday plans. An overwhelming 74.4 per cent of respondents indicated they intended to take a caravan or camping holiday to and through South Australia compared with 63.4 per cent the previous year, he said.

The Caravan Camping Industries Association of South Australia Inc., (CCIA of SA) is a broad based trade organisation which was incorporated in 1976.
Its membership is made up of retailers, manufacturers, hirers, service providers, repairers and suppliers and as such is predominately aligned with businesses in or closely related to the outdoor leisure Industry.
