Top Tourist Parks leads caravanning industry as it trains top down to deliver better product

Top Tourist Parks CEO Bill Pycroft said a mouthful as he congratulated 23 Top Tourist Parks of Australia members who were awarded their Diploma in Caravan Park Management at the Top Tourist Parks AGM in the Adelaide beachside suburb of Glenelg.

Top Tourist Chairman Clive Johnson who began his association with caravan parks at the age of 10 acknowledges every one of the parkies who put themselves through the Tubal Diploma course is a winner for the caravanning industry. As usual he and his wife Margaret lead from the front. They earned their Diploma of Caravan Park Management together.

So did David and Aileen McIvor, Jenny Diedrich and partner Clive Pilley, Neil and Carole-Anne Wolfenden, Graeme & Anne Lockyer & Karen Gaudionand Russell and Robyn Kingsmill.

Bill Pycroft is a Hugh Diedrich Award winner and the reason he won that respected award is his dedication to what is right for Top Tourist Park members and the travelling public who rely on the caravanning industry to deliver quality product.

Pycroft's insight extends to never going off half-cocked. So the Top Tourist Parks progression to honoring the Diploma recipients has been a progression underlined by thorough preparation.

Now Top Tourist is the industry leader through its studied commitment to training its people to the highest standards possible through a Diploma of Caravan Park Management course which stands a Registered Training Organisation reality check.

Everyone who tours in Australia can benefit from supporting those Top Tourist Parks of Australia members of the caravanning industry who are prepared to put themselves on the line. Such support will encourage others to follow.

Their effort is about being better in providing quality service and leading their staff as they rise to that challenge.

Editor's Note: On October 13, 2006 We carried this observation on the caravanning industry and its then cronic lack of staff training.

GoSeeAustralias believes that if an advertisement was carried now seeking people with Diploma of Caravan Park Management for Australias caravan parks the response would be nil.

GoSeeAustralia believes that the caravan park industry must start at the top and train and qualify its owners and managers first to set the bar for staff to aspire to.

Peter Macdonalds program does just that and now Top Tourist Parks of Australia leads the way in training.

Peter Macdonald, FIMC, Dip OH and S, Dip Training and Assessment systems of Tubal Pty Ltd tel: 08 9246 234 is the RTO and accredited provider of this outcome.

Peter has 20 years experience in vocational education and training, OHS, risk management and human resource consultancy.

Peter Macdonald wrote the National Competency Standards for caravan parks which come from the industry and Federal government. Only Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) can issue qualifications.

Peter Macdonald company Tubal Pty has RTO status and is one of the few registered in Australia delivering caravan park qualifications.

The majority of RTO are TAFE Colleges and in most instances limit their scope to Certificate 111 in caravan park operations. Tubal's RTO scope includes Certificate 11, 111, and Diploma.

The Training and Assessment component of his Compliance Management System can be delivered to any caravan park anywhere in Australia.

Peter, through his company Tubal Pty Ltd has been providing training support and consultancy to the caravan park industry since 1995 when the Caravan Industry Association of WA asked him to help establish qualifications and career pathways for the industry.

The CIA WA Board saw a qualifications structure as essential to meet industry growth, address skills shortfalls and attract young people.

Editor's Note: To avoid misunderstandings-
Only Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) can issue qualifications. An accredited course is not a qualification.
