When GoSee heard that the Jayco Club of NSW had Barry Christmas for a President an Out There Christmas in July rally had to follow.
It did - big time.
After two months of careful planning by Poplar Tourist Park manager Darren Core Christmas and Co with Jaycos in tow took position on the Oran Park raceway starters grid.
The Oran Park Safety Car led the way on a track which is part of motorsport legend. Oran Park Raceway is steeped in tradition and holds pride of place in Australian motorsport as the longest continuous host of a round of the Australian Touring Car Championship (currently V8 Supercars).
Poplar Tourist Park managers Darren and Karyn Core told GoSee today that they wanted to give the NSW Jayco Club members a special Christmas in July present - an adrenalin event.
The result was like Christmas on a stick for 20 Jayco caravans with 40 Jayco Club members from the North Coast, Blue Mountains, South Coast, Canberra and in between.
Darren Core came up with an original event
Darren put the Jayco NSW club members with their caravans in tow in grid formation for a few laps around Oran Park raceway.
Once the Jayco Club of NSW members positioned themselves on the starters grid the Oran Park Safety car escorted them around the race track.
It was an absolute sight to see these people and at that age (about 60) driving around the track with their caravans in tow, Darren told GoSee.
The huge smiles and looks of pure excitement will be remembered by all who took part and for the likes of me who witnessed it, they really did enjoy it, Darren Core said.
I must give credit to Jeff Boulous and Kim McClelland who run Oran Park for making it happen and staff absolutely nailed it with their combined efforts to see it through. Thanks to all concerned, Darren said.
Poplar Tourist Park Elderslie (Camden) NSW got a Christmas (in JUly) once-over earlier this year from Jayco Club of NSW president Barry Christmas and club secretary Damian Stewart.
The Jayco NSW Club takes a short break
They visited Camdens quaint, impressive Poplar Tourist Park in the hope of having their Christmas in July rally held there.
After a close inspection of the large tourist sites, impeccable amenities and garden surrounds it was decided they had to have their members experience this recently much improved tourist park.
Were quite fussy you know and we like to offer our members a memorable experience and Poplar Tourist Park fitted the bill to a tee, club president Barry Christmas told GoSee.
Poplar Tourist Park managers Darren and Karyn Core were very accommodating in every detail from our first visit and throughout our entire stay, he said.
We were made to feel very welcome and nothing seemed to be a problem for the dynamic duo.
On arrival we were greeted with big friendly smiles at reception and had a complimentary huge marquee complete with heating, lights, tea, coffee and sugar for our club, club secretary Damian Stewart said.

The day wound down with lawn games in amongst the manicured gardens until late afternoon then it was off for the Christmas in July dinner hosted by club secretary Damian Stewart. Sunday and Monday was spent exploring the local attractions in the Macarthur region.
Weve been treated so well by Darren and Karyn while staying at the Poplar Tourist Park and it was decided amongst our members that this has undoubtedly been the best rally that we have experienced to date.
So we have booked our next AGM here for April 2009 which will attract a minimum of 35 caravans and 70 members for up to a weeks stay, Secretary Damian Stewart said.
Im not sure what exciting adventure to organise for them next visit but Im confident I can at least match the Oran Park event, Darren Core said.
