The South Island 2008 New Zealand National Motorhome and Caravan Expo in Christchurch pulled big crowds of camping enthusiasts despite winds which gusted to 150kmh on the second day of the expo.
The big wind known locally as the Canterbury Northwester snapped a support pole at the base in the main marquee, brought down expo stands and closed the marquee for five hours as safety support crews went into action.
Despite the natural challenges GoSee New Zealand got lots of interest and our team rate the Christchurch crowds right up there with big expos (camping Supershows) we attend in Australia.
The list of exhibitors included Barrons South Island, Winnebago, Sunliner, Jayco Canterbury, KEA Campers NZ, Sunliner Recreational Vehicles, Dometic NZ, Kiwi RV Imports and NZ Motor Caravan Association.
Displays crash in the wind storm
Motorhomes, caravans, camper trailers, pop-tops, campervans, fifth wheelers, tents and RV and camping accessories were all in the Expo mix.
The 2008 show was held at Canterbury Agricultural Park, Christchurch on Friday October 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5.
Caravans built with New Zealand conditions in mind showed plenty of original thought.
The Leisure Line rangeof caravans are designed and built by New Zealanders for New Zealand conditions with value and quality Leisure Lines point of difference for potential owners.
The difference won buyers at the 2008 New Zealand National Motorhome and Caravan Expo as Leisure Line told GoSee New Zealand the eight caravans they took to the expo had new owners,
Leisure Line builds a traditional Kiwi caravan with current styling. The result is a comfortable, open Recreational Vehicle which has space and style. Leisure Line understand New Zealand conditions and their products can take it comfortably in every sense.
Layouts, installation, materials and finish are chosen to give the maximum durability.
Leisure Line has been involved in the manufacturing of caravans since 1973. This hands-on experience takes the best features of previous New Zealand built caravans and improves on them. Leisure Lines one piece roof is just one example of how the past benefits the future.
Leisure Line custom builds to individual needs.
The Oztent www.oztent.co.nz was born from frustration when Joe Vigilone (Oztent inventor) went camping with his wife and a borrowed tent.
It was not a happy experience. So when Joe got back from the holiday which was cut short through the problems with setting up the tent he decided to design his own.
Oztent was released in 1993 and in that same year the Oztent was awarded A Silver medal at the International Exhibition of Inventions - Geneva.
It also won the Most Innovative Camping Product - Caravan and Camping Association.
From kitchen table to International Award Winning tent - The Oztent has been and continues to be another great little Aussie Invention that is now available in the U.K., Switzerland, Netherlands, Germany, France, Denmark, New Zealand and South Africa.
Oztent shows its options for campers
Apart from the fact that the Oztent is so easy to set up (in less than 30 seconds and by one person) Joe added many new features to make this tent a real pleasure to camp in.
Joe recognised that when he designed the Oztent it was for touring camping and times when quick tent erecting is required. But GoSee uses an Oztent and we find more and more people buy it for the fact that it is just so simple to use.

Shayne demonstrates Lenker Space Saving Table Frame
Lenker Marketingwww.lenker.co.nz got attention at the 2008 New Zealand National Motorhome and Caravan Expo with the Lagun space saving table frame. It is designed to save space in caravans and campers. No more bum shuffles when it comes time to sit down to enjoy a cuppa or a meal.
It is height adjustable and will cope with the various popular sizes children come in. The table top can also be used as part of the bed base.
Fitting is a simple slide on to a strong extrusion and pop the table top back on. The whole unit can be adjusted and locked in an amazing variety of useful positions.
The table top will move 360 degs as will the whole arm. Which means it can also be a shelf and getting up and down is no longer a big twist as it can be moved to provide easy access. GoSee thinks the best thing about the space saving table is that most of the time it is out of the way.
Another original idea comes from DriveNow -
DriveNow www.drivenow.co.nz is an innovative company which produces attractive rental deals on vehicles from distressed inventory which would otherwise be left idle.

Budget Rent-a-Car, Apollo Motorhome Holidays, National, Thrifty, Avis,
Britz, Maui, Backpacker Campervans, and Smartcars.
The DriveNow's innovative approach to rental vehicles produces cheaper prices and gives customers access to competitive deals. DriveNow is in Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton, and Queenstown.
