Good news from Lennox Head, NSW and Midge Point Qld as they shrug off tornado and cyclone events

We have not got a scratch in our tourist area, Debbie Smith, Manager of Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park Lennox Head, NSW said today.

There is more good news from Midge Point and Travellers Rest Caravan Camping Park Caravan Park, Queensland too. They are back up and running after being hit by cyclonic winds about two and half months ago.

GoSee spoke with Karen Dineen, Principal and Managing Director of Dineen Tourism Management today.

Karen says: we have had some damage to Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park Annuals section at the west side but nothing to speak of in the tourist area at the eastern end. The main thing is that no-one was hurt and we were lucky that our Annuals section experienced low occupancy the day the tornado hit.

In the attached Google map the annuals are in the far left side of the pic the white parts are annuals vans and annexes.

The tornado came up Ian St, Lennox Head straight through the annuals and out into the lake The entrance area where the pointer is was untouched and it missed the house, office , tourist villas and tourist cabins

Debbie Smith said the cleanup has already started and the tourist side of the caravan park's accommodation is fine. There is plenty of room for motor homes.

Earlier Karen Dineen said:

There were people camping in tents in the tourist area at the time of the tornado and they experienced no damage.

Thetornado just made a path straight through the town and the western end of the park, she said.

Debbie Smith this morning that power is back on to the office. The Big4 Holiday Park is situated on a freshwater tea tree lake adjacent to Seven Mile Beach, renowned amongst surfing enthusiasts for its world famous right hand point break.
