Syphon Road Update from Prue Daley - Last week we reported that Syphon Road was closed due to the closure of the bridge at the southern end of the road. Staff have assessed this area and have placed a detour at the southern end so visitors can still access most of the road. Access to the Southern end of Syphon road can be made via a detour along Sawmill track and Redhill road (Signs are in place).
The bridge will be replaced by DSE next year.
All roads within the Victoria Valley area of the park are still wet and slippery and a four wheel drive vehicle is recommend for travel in this area.
Walking Track Update
Sundial Track blocked Grampians NP Victoria
Storm damage has caused structural problems with the foot bridge leading to the Teddy Bear Gap walking track from the Jimmy Creek Campground.
It is considered unsafe for visitor access therefore the bridge has been closed.
Teddy Bear Gap loop, however, is still open to the public but will have to be accessed from Serra Road.
The walking track from Venus Baths to Wonderland remains closed due to the landslide on Mt Victory Road.
Parks Victoria staff are still working hard to clear walking tracks throughout the park.
Tracks still need to be assessed in the Mt William, Major Mitchell Plateau or the Victoria Range areas eg: Kalymna Falls, Sheep Hills Track, Stockyard, Bomjinna, Fortress, Manja and Billimina Shelters. These tracks may have damaged surfaces and trees over the track and be hard to navigate.
