The new Ford Ranger claims a towing capability of 3350 kilograms (TDCi-powered 4x2 Hi-Rider and 4x4 only) and water-wading capability of 800 millimetres (4x2 Hi-Rider and 4x4 only).

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) is among control features new to Ranger that assist vehicle stability.
Included is Trailer Sway Control which Ford says provides stability control when towing a trailer.
Ford answers GSA towing ball weight questions
GoSeeAustralia asked Ford for towing ball weight specifications on the new Ford Ranger -
- What is the maximum ball weight Ford recommends please for the new Ranger models?
- Does Ford recommend and warranty the use of Weight Distribution Hitch (WDH) and Friction Sway control?
- If yes does Ford include WDH and Friction Sway gear in its product range?
Peter Fadeyev Product Communications Manager for Ford Motor Company of Australia Ltd says:
The maximum ball weight varies by model and is:
220kg for 2.5L Petrol 4x2.
250kg for 2.2L Diesel 4x2 low rider.
335kg for all other variants.
The recommended weight to be applied on the towball is a minimum six percent of of the gross trailer weight (up to maximum of 10 percent). Max permissible axle loads must not be exceeded.
The Ford PX Ranger has been tested for all operating and load conditions and meets all requirements without load levelling bars, therefore use of these bars is not recommended by Ford.
