A troupe of Western Lowland gorillas led by the impressive 210kg Silverback Kibabu arrived at Mogo Zoo in August.
Kibabu's two favorite ladies Mouila and Kriba and their offspring, Mahali and Kipenzi came to South Coast New South Wales from Taronga Zoo, Sydney.
Mogo Zoo owner and Director Sally Padey says: " It is a dream come true and we are so honored to be able to house and care for these amazing animals and play a role in the Global Species Management Plan. The arrival of these great apes is not only a fantastic opportunity for Mogo Zoo, but for the Eurobodalla region overall", she said.
Founded on the vision of Bill and Sally Padey who got things rolling in 1989 Mogo Zoo is a founding member of the Australasian Species Management Program and plays a leading role in various breeding programs.
Like Orana Wildlife Parknear Christchurch NZMogo Zoo's core focus is it is committed to the survival of endangered species.
Mogo Zoo general manager John Appleby says: The gorillas are settling in nicely and seem relaxed and comfortable. Kibabu is displaying all the signs of a great leader, reassuring the rest of the troupe as they explore their new surroundings.
