Bendigo Leisurefests regular free seminars on how to get the best from the outdoors fire up on the hour five times a day from Friday Nov 22 to through Sunday 24th in the Seminar Room at Bendigo's Epsom Racecourse. Hosted in the seminar room located at the back of the grandstand, the free seminars run for 30 to 40 minutes followed by open question time. The speakers are also available at Leisurefest throughout the event.

GoSeeAustralia's Talking Pictures Show looks at road touring adventures, free camping costs and what makes the best caravan park. Online Editor Garth Morrison has answers on Recreational Vehicles and choosing a tow tug. He discusses towing, Weight Distribution Hitches and camping in caravans, campers, motorhomes and tents.

Garth is Editor of GoSeeAustralia.com.au and its Kiwi sister website GoSeeNewZealand.co.nz Both websites are free to users. Newbies are supported by Old Heads and there is no such thing as a stupid question. The free GoSee TravelSmart Club now has 13,688 members.

One of Victorias leading caravan industry identities, Tom Harding, has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the Australia Day Honours. Tom ran a successful caravan parts, accessory and repair workshop for 25 years.

The industry veteran received his OAM for service to the community through historical and service organisations.

In addition to his many contributions to the caravan industry, Tom was recognised for his service to aged care, Lions, the Army Reserve and Victorian Athletics.

Tom is an outstanding ambassador for the industry, and had introduced many newcomers to the caravanning and camping lifestyle. He has shared the joys of caravanning with thousands of people through his caravan safaris, training sessions and popular presentations at caravan and RV shows.

Tom harnessed the volunteer spirit of caravanners to help restore the historic township of Farina, adding another chapter to his remarkable caravanning career.

Bendigo Four Wheel Drive Club runs camping trips and 4WD driving tours for all skill levels.

It is among 4WD clubs throughout Australia who encourage members to take a responsible approach to using 4WD's.

Skills required to get the best, safely from a 4WD are fostered within the Bendigo Four Wheel Drive Club program of camping trips and touring.

The club meets at The Foundry Arms hotel, 2 Old High Street, Golden Square Bendigo on the second Wednesday of each month.

Speakers like Sid Whiting have covered over 150,000km towinga caravan around Australia.

Sid Whitings Long Haul Caravanning seminar touches on many aspects of caravanning and motorhoming, from how to choose the right rig (he got it horribly wrong first time around), through setting it up with the best mix of tools and equipment, to some of the things that can go wrong, how things work, and what its like out there.

Questions from the floor are encouraged. Each seminar is different, with something for everyone from new chums to old hands. Whether its fishing, cooking, hitching, photography, security, electric brakes, or ants in the caravan.

On Saturday Darren Maggs who is former Special Services military gives a fascinating insight into getting the best from what is really difficult equipment to use well.

Unlike mobile phones a satellite phone will not find you. Darren introduces audiences to the reality that you have to find the satellite. The satellite will not find you. He also gets into costs of brands and their ability, or otherwise, to cope in the field. Some satellite units are not certified waterproof, nor are they particularly designed to cope with hard use. Others are high cost. He offers brand options which get across these issues.
