Showgrounds shift frees Melbourne Supershow to make massive memories

The new Melbourne Showgrounds venue for the next Melbourne Caravan, Camping & TouringSupershow fits the Caravan Industry Association Victoria (CIAVic) 'Go make some memories'call to action.

As the show goes into its 61st year the Victorian Caravan, Camping TouringSupershow has moved away from its former Labour Day long weekend time slot.

With six fulldays from Wednesday to Monday and no long weekend, we will have a truly massive show, andpatrons can go camping instead on the long weekends! CIA Vic President Peter May said.

The new show runs six days from Feb 11 to 16, 2015 at Royal Melbourne Showgrounds in theMelbourne inner north-western suburb of Ascot Vale next door to Flemington Racecourse.

The Melbourne Caravan Camping Supershow move to Melbourne Showgrounds from its formerCaulfield Racecourse venue provides the environment for the biggest, best, most diverse exhibitionof its type in Australia, Rob Lucas CEO of CIA said today.

Unfortunately things were so tight at the old Caulfield Racecourse venue that we would have usedthe ground the ants were standing on if they stood still long enough, he said.

At Melbourne Showgrounds plenty of space is available all on a flat site, he said.

CIAVic will stage the biggest Australian show with new products, diverse exhibitors and freshattractions, Rob Lucas said.

We are aware that people who were once regulars at caravan and camping industry showsthroughout Australia need change and that is what we will give them to bring them to MelbourneShowgrounds, Rob Lucas said.

The Showgrounds venue is 'mainstream' with airconditionedpavilions to provide undercover all-weather comfort for showgoers and quality display space forexhibitors.

We have room for much more - 5th wheelers, a Tent City, Food and Wine Village, we havespace to grow, Rob Lucas said.

The concept of volunteers we developed around the golf cart (transporters) at Caulfield wasgood, but limited by the contraints of the Caulfield venue. Now we can mark out the areas thecarts use to move people about more efficiently.

Melbourne Showgrounds offers abundant space for the Supershow, with the ability to cater to tens of thousandsof visitors daily, with ample parking at the adjacent Flemington Racecourse.

Metro Trains has been very good. People who buy tickets to the show online will travel free,Rob Lucas said.

Our popular $25 parcel pick-up service for people who buy products at theshow will take purchases to their door, he said.

CIA Vic President Peter May says the move from Caulfield to the Showgrounds will make roomfor many exhibitors who have been desperate for display space in recent years.

Weve had 14 wonderful years with Melbourne Racing Club at Caulfield, and we are nowlooking forward to an equally fruitful relationship with the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria(RASV) at Melbourne Showgrounds.

This is one of those times when bigger and better is a genuine understatement, with a massiveincrease in total display space, and so much of it under cover, he said.

The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) CEO Mark OSullivan says:

We are delighted to have the Caravan, Camping Touring Supershow at MelbourneShowgrounds Melbournes largest and most versatile indoor/outdoor events venue, he said.

It is a high quality and trusted event for exhibitors and consumers alike, and we look forward to itgrowing as an important event at the iconic Melbourne Showgrounds.

The Caravan Industry Association of Victoria (CIA) has moved into new strategically selectedheadquarters to consolidate its show and administration operations in one location.

The newheadquarters is at Unit 8 / 88 Dynon Road, West Melbourne 3003. CIA Chief Executive OfficerRob Lucas says the new building is a significant boost to the efficiency of the association.

It bringsall our people together in one location, with all our show equipment and publications now stored inthe same building, he said. We have also taken the opportunity to update our IT systems and toinclude a meeting room and a fully equipped training room for the benefit of our members.

Importantly, we now have ample on-site parking for staff and visitors, including under-coverparking if needed, which is a great improvement over our previous location.
